About This Role:
This role is an entry level to mid-level engineer who independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out engineering tasks.
What You’ll Do:
- Utilize a solid understanding of broadband network systems, FTTP (GPON/XGS), and copper
- Design 10G and above circuits
- Access several vendor EMS systems
- Read and understand detailed engineering drawings
- Replicate physical installation of equipment build as it relates to a large Network in NGMSS versions
- Provide technical expertise and support to various internal departments
- Manage several projects, priorities escalations in a timely manner
- Evaluate and manage the implementation of new technologies and processes in engineering
- Systematic knowledge of structure, applications, and hierarchies of: Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, LAN, & Packet Optical
- Understand the interworking connections of transport and broadband equipment
- Lead project calls
- Identify issues and provides resolution within the workgroup or to the customer
- Apply commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures to resolve routine issues
- Other duties as assigned
Do You Have?
- College Engineering degree and 1-2 years’ experience or 4+ years’ equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience required.
Even Better:
- Understanding of telecommunications industry
- Knowledge of one or more engineering disciplines and vendor equipment
- Familiarity with accepted engineering practices
- Knowledge of Adtran TA500x/1148vxp, Calix E7/E3, Nokia 7750/FX/IXR series, Cyan Z series transport, Passive and Active CWDM & DWDM, Ethernet Transport / Ethernet over SONET / Packet Transport, Wavelength services, etc.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products, Microsoft Visio, Remedy, Metasolv MSS versions M4-M6, Adtran AOE, Calix CMS/SMx, CYAN Planet Operate, Nokia NSP, etc.
- Computer software knowledge should include custom planning tools and databases
- Good analytical and problem solving skills; the ability to prioritize projects and report status effectively; good oral and written communication skills; and good interpersonal and team skills; self-motivated and self-disciplined with a strong drive to learn
Minimum Requirements:
College degree in Engineering or a related field and 0-2 years professional level experience; or 4+ years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.
The compensation range for this position is from $55,700 - $68,800. Our compensation approach is designed to be fair and competitive. Pay for this role is based on factors such as your experience, skills, education, and location.
