Director - Inventory Management

About the Role:

The Director of Inventory Management is responsible for leading the strategy, governance, and day-to-day execution of inventory management across the procurement organization. This role ensures the right materials and equipment are available to support business needs while optimizing inventory investment, improving accuracy, strengthening controls, and driving operational efficiency.

The Director partners closely with Procurement, Finance, Operations, Legal, and other business stakeholders to align inventory planning, supplier support, order management, and reporting with company priorities.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the overall inventory management strategy, processes, and performance for the procurement organization.
• Develop and maintain inventory policies, controls, and standard operating procedures to improve accuracy, availability, and compliance.
• Oversee demand planning, replenishment, stocking strategies, transfers, returns, disposition, and management of excess/obsolete inventory.
• Partner with sourcing, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to align inventory decisions with vendor strategy, pricing, business requirements, and service expectations.
• Drive improvements in inventory visibility, reporting, forecasting, and analytics to support decision-making and working capital optimization.
• Establish and monitor KPIs such as inventory accuracy, turns, service levels, aging, shortages, excess inventory, and forecast performance.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, internal controls, audit requirements, and delegated authority guidelines.
• Lead cross-functional issue resolution related to material availability, fulfillment, order accuracy, and inventory exceptions.
• Identify and implement process and system enhancements that improve scalability, efficiency, and data integrity.
• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and customer support.

Do You Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Finance, Operations, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in inventory management, procurement, supply chain, materials management, or related functions.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of inventory controls, procurement processes, reporting, and operational governance.
• Demonstrated experience partnering across Procurement, Finance, Operations, and other internal stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into action.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and change-management skills.
• Experience with ERP, procurement, inventory, or order management systems.
• Experience in telecommunications, technology, field operations, or other asset-intensive environments.
• Experience supporting audit, compliance, and control-driven environments.
• Proven success leading large-scale process improvement or systems transformation efforts.
• Operates with strong business judgment and a control-minded approach.
• Build effective partnerships across teams and functions.
• Drives results through clear priorities, disciplined execution, and continuous improvement.
• Develops talent and fosters a culture of ownership, collaboration, and service.

The starting compensation range for this job is $112,600 to $150,800.  Our compensation approach s designed to be fair and competitive.  Pay for this role is based on factors such as your experience, skills, education and location
